Amazonas Capoeira was founded in
London by two sisters; Rilene (Vo) and Rejane (Brisa).
They travelled to London in the early 1990's as part
of a group of performing artists touring the UK.
After the completion of the tour the two sisters decided
to put their energy and experience into creating their
own Capoeira group: Amazonas Capoeira Academy (ACA).
Almost 10 years later - Rilene and Rejane have developed
ACA into a popular and well-respected institution with
students from all over London and beyond, ACA has worked
in collaboration with many professional arts organisations
(Survival
, The Mellow Campaign) and was also invited to participate
in the 2002 Golden Jubilee Parade. ACA is renowned for
it's atmosphere, it's friendliness, expertise and the
fact that it is one of very few Capoeira groups worlwide
that is co-ordinated by women.
We work with people of all ages
and backgrounds developing coordination, flexibility,
mental agility and physical strength (Both Rilene &
Rejane have sports science certification to assist them
in the task of helping each and every student to acheive
their full physical potential).
Throughout the years of studying
and promoting the art of Capoeira we have been involved
with many schemes\activities for young
people; we have worked with schools, Universities,
Community centres, Leisure centres, Dance/Theatre groups
and charity organisations (click

With the support of our brothers:
Professor Boneco also of Amazonas Capoeira and Contra
Mestre Zangado from Grupo Cordao de Ouro; we stage several
international Capoeira events throughout the year, attracting
people from all backgrounds (click
